On behalf of SBV Excelsior, we have developed a plan for the renovation of the club’s stadium. This plan not only includes the expansion and modernization of the stadium, but also addresses the major housing challenge facing Rotterdam.

The vision is based on the current foundation and orientation of the stadium. In the current stadium, renovation and expansion will be carried out, increasing the stadium’s capacity from 4,400 to approximately 7,500 seats. In addition, extra facilities will be added for commercial and social purposes. On and around the stadium, a large multifunctional complex will be created where living, sports, exercise, social interaction, and health come together.
We not only developed a plan for the stadium, but also collaborated with CULD on the sub-tasks that contribute to the overall area development. The plan includes solutions in the field of mobility and seeks a diverse program. There is also attention to the management of green spaces and existing recreation.
The plan fits urbanistically within the plans of the municipality of Rotterdam, which is working on an overarching vision for, among others, Woudestein, Brainpark, Kralingen, and De Esch in combination with the new river crossing. The plan takes into account the important historical green zones and projects, and builds on previously established planning and design principles.
