Our first project? That was 20 years ago, for an amateur football club in Hoensbroek, South Limburg. We designed the FC Hoensbroek clubhouse. The main focus of the concept was to create an optimal view of the fields, so that the football experience takes center stage. The clubhouse is situated between two fields.

We took the centerline of the main field as the canteen's centerline. Starting from this line, 60 cm above ground level, there's a floor housing the representative spaces, such as the canteen and the boardroom. The entrance and other areas are part of the canteen. This allows the building to easily accommodate large numbers of visitors while maintaining an intimate atmosphere for smaller crowds.
The remaining components of the program are located in the basement. This basement is accessible from the entrance and offers direct access to the sports fields via a staircase at the rear. We opted for a clear design language, enhanced by minimalist detailing and a careful use of materials such as brickwork, concrete, wood, and glass.
We look back with pride on this 2005 project, where it all began for us. The sports pavilion marks the starting point for MoederscheimMoonen Architects and thus represents a key moment in our development as a firm. This project embodies themes that continue to define our work today: clarity of concept, attention to user experience, and a careful handling of space and materials.
