Commissioned by Sustain Real Estate Consultancy, MoederscheimMoonen Architects has designed a standalone office building near Breda Central Station. Located on the west side of the station, the site will become a striking part of an area that is currently transforming from a traditional business park into a modern work and knowledge campus focused on applied technology and creativity.

In recent decades, the area has been developing rapidly. On the northern side of the railway, the city is progressing at a fast pace. On the grounds of the former sugar factory, ‘Het Zoet’, will rise in the coming years; a residential and business area for innovative enterprises and young families. South of the railway, along the Slingerweg, there is also a master plan focusing on a concept with separate office pavilions surrounded by greenery. This offers an inspiring and sustainable working environment, where nature and architecture blend seamlessly.
Within this concept, we have designed a compact and thoughtfully planned office building consisting of three floors. The building is elegantly elevated above a parking facility, surrounded by lush green embankments. The design is further characterized by its transparency and openness, thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass facades. Strategically placed canopies around the building provide a pleasant indoor climate by offering shade and keeping out the heat. These canopies are also fitted with greenery, which contributes to the natural cooling of the building while simultaneously adding a green and vibrant element to the building’s experience. A rooftop terrace on top of the building offers users the opportunity to enjoy sunlight and fresh air during breaks.
The new office building promises to be a careful and elegant addition to Slingerweg, perfectly fitting within the future vision for the rapidly developing area in Breda. The project is currently still in the development phase and the environmental permit has been granted.
