During the process, we not only developed a vision for the building, but also a marketing plan to encourage the many users to work together with the design team towards the success of the building. This plan resulted in Trefkoele+, the new brand that reflects the physical and social revitalization of the complex.
To create a single building in which the library was preserved, the central part of the complex was demolished and the oval-shaped library was thoroughly renovated. This made it possible to combine various functions and components, while retaining the characteristic shape of the library.
The renovated building houses various sports clubs, a library, welfare facilities, educational and activity rooms for young and old, the Dalfsen historical society, space for paramedical activities, a preschool, childcare, the youth and family center, and much more. With two large sports halls, a central meeting area with a restaurant, and several multifunctional spaces, there is something for everyone.
The design of the Trefkoele+ is characterized by multifunctionality. For example, a top-level sports hall has been created that is also suitable for theater and large events, the library serves as a transitional space, and a central meeting area has been designed as a connecting 'plus'. By combining different heights and shapes, the result is a harmonious building that enriches its surroundings.
