Living with the park as your front yard
A stone's throw from the center of Hoogvliet in Rotterdam lies the new Parkbuurt. Commissioned by Heijmans, we created the design for 24 semi-detached houses and six townhouses in the area.

In the park
Parkbuurt is an area with homes that are literally located in the park. It is a child-friendly place where residents can live sustainably and surrounded by greenery, with the park as their front yard.
Green and daylight
Where the existing houses in the area transition to the park via a veranda, we chose to make this transition with a pergola. Thanks to this pergola, plenty of greenery can grow around the homes while the houses retain as much daylight as possible. The large glass doors on the ground floor provide a direct connection to the garden and the park.
Balance between ecology and activity
Between the pergola and the homes, cozy seating areas are created to enjoy the outdoors, with the garden directly connected to the park. In the park, among the trees and winding walking paths, you will find plenty of playground equipment for children. With the right planting, a good balance is created between ecology and activity.
