A study for Schiedam
On behalf of Synchroon Vastgoed and the municipality of Schiedam, we conducted a study on how living and working can be accommodated on the former VROM site in the Schiekwartier of Schiedam.

Promising place
The former VROM site is located directly on the city’s historic outer harbor, next to the distilleries and the Schiedam Glass Factory. It is a promising location to connect the city center with the Schiekwartier.
The plan
We envisioned a low-rise urban environment with a mix of townhouses, apartments, commercial spaces, and restaurants. We were inspired by the triangular shape of the site and organized the buildings around a triangular square. Below this lies the shared parking garage. The basements of the apartments are intended for functions other than residential, such as hospitality or flexible workspaces.
