The campus-like building is located close to the city center and is a place where many different groups come together. Sports are played by schools and clubs, who can use the partitions in the sports hall to play at the same time.
The swimming pools are used by swimming clubs, recreational swimmers, and lessons are given for both young and old. The 25-meter competition pool is multifunctional thanks to the movable floor, atmospheric lighting, and an extensive sound system. The target group pool has warmer water and features a movable floor, making it suitable for use as an instruction pool and therapy pool.
The foundation for a compact and well-organized sports complex has been achieved in part by elevating the swimming facilities, the hospitality area, and the main entrance to a single level above ground. As a result, there is a direct connection from the hospitality area to both the swimming pools and the sports hall.
In this vibrant heart, a lot of glass has been used, allowing you to view the sports activities and both swimming pools at a glance. Additionally, the interior has a fresh and sustainable appearance due to the extensive use of wood, which is featured in both the sports hall and the swimming areas.
The plinth of the building is surrounded on all sides by a slope that creates a green setting. The entrance is located at the corner of the building, featuring a large concrete staircase leading to the first floor. The inviting canopy structure at this entrance welcomes visitors from afar. The facade is designed with natural-looking and robust cladding.
Various sustainable technologies have been implemented in the building to generate and recover energy. For example, an installation concept has been developed that operates all-electric, resulting in zero CO2 emissions. Heat recovery takes place from the (swimming pool) water and the air, and high insulation values have been achieved. The cooling load is limited by cleverly positioning transparent façade sections and equipping them with sunshades. In addition, nearly 1,000 PV panels have been installed on the roof to generate energy. This energy is mainly used to heat the swimming pool, as the rest of the building is very energy-efficient thanks to LED lighting with presence detection. Together with the chosen materials, this has resulted in a sustainable building.
